Seventeenth Leg of Post- PCH
We were very excited to finally get to drive north on the Pacific Coastal Highway.
| We came upon a great deal of these wild animals along the way. |
| We were surprised that the PCH was not all Coastal and actually quite a lot of farmland. It was quite beautiful. |
This is Port Reyes, it was quite an active town with a fun feel!
The highway would go back and forth from coast to farm. Winding this way and that.
We thought this was funny, and sort of scary.
We stopped in Mendocino, CA for a couple of nights. We got to see whales and seals, both. Quite exciting times! We were unable to capture the whales on film because they were too far away.
| The town of Mendocino |
| The water was a bit cold! |
| We set up a nice shade area for ourselves to do our whale watching. Notice the nice "driftwood" table in front of us. |
| Another bit of driftwood. |
Sunset at Mendocino
The next day!
| We left Mendocino and found some big trees! |
| Aren't we precious! We are playing the tourist to the hilt! |
| We fit! |
| Whew! |
| The forest made us feel as if we were in a fairy tale of sorts. |
| It was so peaceful driving through these gentle giants! |
| Each of these markers represents the history that happened while this tree was alive. Each tree we passed through was a testament to hundreds of years of history. Some were here when theVikings were the threat of the world. |
We arrived in Eureka. The Inn was one that had a glory day gone by, but it was fun visiting those glory days of the past.
| Ty Cobb (they had portraits of all the people who once stayed there) |

| All to familiar face of Winston Churchill |
| Who doesn't recognize Humphrey Bogart |
Shirley Temple (There were many more, we were quite amazed)
And onward up the coast...
We came across a herd of Elk. They were quite unimpressed by us.
As you can see by this picture, our driving by taking pictures only elicits a bit of curiosity.
Can you believe it! We have made it to Oregon!
We continue to be amazed at the back and forth between coast and farmland the highway takes us. But it is all so beautiful.
| This fellow seemed quite curious about us. Maybe a little hopeful for something! |
We found this gem of a place on the coast in Bandon. We wish we had known about it earlier, we would have stayed here longer. Cute town, wonderful Inn.
Now on up the coast to our place is Neskowin!
Blessings!
