On our way to see SARAH!!!! we stopped in the town of Fort Smith. This is where the film, True Grit was based, with John Wayne. You could tell that the town was quite please with this fact.
While in Fort Smith, we were here we decided to tour the town's historical area. While touring we drove by a dog who was hanging by his leash on a fence. He had jumped the fence and was hooked to a cement block. Well, we of course could not just drive by this state of affairs so we stop to rescue the poor puppy. While trying to determine a good location to put the cement block, the other puppy slipped out of the gate. So we turn around, and there goes puppy with a cement block being dragged behind him. It was a true Heckle and Jeckle moment. We chased them down a couple blocks, via the car, no less, and catch up with them when Cement Block puppy gets caught on something in a houses front yard. So Roger grabs Cement Block and I am petting Escapee and we are trying to figure how we will get them back in their yard. Roger remembers he has some straps in the trunk and tells me to hold Cement Block. They are just lovin' on me while he is getting the straps, but so are the mosquitos. Oh well! Roger gets the straps on the dogs. I am in charge of getting the cement block back to the yard while he walks the dogs back to the house. While he is walking them back and large doberman lab mix started after them. Then out of no where a black Mercedes comes charging through, runs up into the yard in between the pincher and Roger and efficiently blocks the charge. The man then gives Roger a wave and drives on when the dog loses interest in Roger. We get the dogs back into their yard and get Cement Block secured in a way that he won't be jumping the fence to his detriment. I was able to pose for this shot just to let Jennifer know that I am keeping up with my petting regime!
