Continuing to see the Wonders of our Country

Twenty-Second Stage of Trip-
Mount Rushmore and the Badlands

We had been in Wyoming the whole time we were at our lodge, but never saw the sign because we came in through the National Park.

We left the lodge heading for the South Dakota to see Mount Rushmore and the Badlands!!
Even though we left the park, the beauties,
                             the "wows" and "awe" continue.

The Wind River, it went on for the longest time.

While on the road, Roger talked about this morning's devotion.  It discussed Psalm 46.  Most of us know the part, "Be still and know that I am God."  Seeing all these wonders shows how when God spoke the earth melted, as from Psalm 46:6.  Come behold the desolate- we have had the opportunity to do this also.  We have been so blessed this trip!

The terrain would change from one turn to the next.

                                            So did the sky

                                  Another Hot Spring

Then we ran across these little creatures.
Aren't they wonderful and so curious!

We took some pictures, and they were
still there when we came back.

When Roger got out of the car, they decided they had enough.

Our Lord's majesty is everywhere we looked!

Roger went to a museum while I rested, and on his way
he saw these sights!  How funny!

We went to Little Bighorn Battlefield

The Memorial for the Indians

It was very peaceful and moving.

We left the battlefield to go to Bighorn Canyon

                                  Found some wild horses

We were only able to go to the upper lake area of the canyon                                because of a fire in the south part.  But weren't we
                                           fortunate to see this part!

Across from our hotel, we spotted some antelope while the sun was setting.

The next day we went to another natural wonder called,
                                     "The Devil's Tower"

Does this not look like the earth melted?

These Prairie Dogs were so funny to watch at the bottom of the hill

After our daily dallying, and actually, just taking in the wonder of it all, we finally reached Mount Rushmore.  We found out they had an evening program and decided to attend.  We then woke up the next morning to explore the monument a bit further.

Roger also did the Presidential Trail which included the artist's museum which held his scaled sculptures.

                              and some of the equipment

As we were leaving the park, we saw this profile of George!
We continued on the Mount Rushmore Loop
                                     and found more beauty.

On the loop is a memorial to Crazy Horse, though it is not funded by the government in any way.  It is still in the process of being carved as the funds come in.
This is the model for what it is supposed to
                            look like when completed.

More beauty as we continue the loop.

                                        Some Longhorns
                   And then we reached...the Badlands!

The pictures do not do this wonder any justice.  Our awe continued
We had to give up the evening and go to our cabin.  We tried to see the star shower that night, but there were too many clouds, however, we did see a few shooting stars!
We woke up the next morning to continue to be awed by
                                God's artistry!

A cute bunny by our cabin!

Sometimes it felt as if we were not on the Earth

Sunflowers were a popular flower out here.

We started seeing faces in the rocks.

We were amazed at how white these were.

We hope you are able to get some sense of the incredible "wow"ness we experienced here!  Many blessings to all!
